Everyone uses money and must understand how to total their money
in order to know how much money they have... so if you have seven dimes and seven quarters, how much money do you have?
Let's figure it out!

|

You have learned about coins and their value in previous lessons; here's a quick review.
1 quarter= 25 cents
1 dime = 10 cents
1 penny = 1 cent
1 nickel = 5 cents
To figure up how much you have, add coins together!

Let's practice!
If you have four quarters, one dime, five nickels and nine pennies, how much money do you have?
Well, that would be .25 + .25 + .25 + .25= $1.00 + .10 = 1.10 + .05 + .05 + .05 + .05 +.05 = 1.35 + .09 = $1.44

To make adding coins, easier, add coins that are the same together first.
For example, if you have nine pennies and five nickels then add all nine pennies together first; this would
be nine cents; then add all nickels together; this would be 25 cents; then add 25 + 9 = 34 cents!
Practice!
